Message from Regional DIstrict Representative Posted December 16th, 2008
First, thank you Ellison for your support. Now that the election is over, it is time to address some of the community’s concerns and priorities.
One of the challenges of governing regional districts is simple geography. Another challenge is getting the word out. But there are tools available at the community’s disposal and we must take advantage of them. One of those tools currently available to you is this wonderful website www.ellisonnews.com The site is unbiased, up-to-date and informative. Ellisonnews.com is also linked from my site: www.kellyhayes.ca where I have recently added a poll. I have also created a Christmas cheer radio commercial on B103 and Power104 involving all four corners of Central Okanagan East as a show of unity.
In an effort to further communicate with the community, I have been having a series of meetings with various stakeholders, including the Ellison Fire Department and Community Association. The outcome was that both organizations must work closer together with the goal of recruiting more volunteers. I also had an informal meeting with Bob Calder, head of the Advisory Planning Committee and owner of Sunset Ranch – one of the main stakeholders in the community.
I will be holding a townhall meeting in early February at the Ellison Community Hall where I will be making a number of announcements. Date to be announced.
This is a time of rejuvenation for the community of Ellison, but it’s going to take some work to build the momentum. Join the community and support our volunteers.
More updates to come.
Kel
